Sausage Stuffed Peppers with Apples

 1 Pound of Gianelli Ground Hot or Sweet Sausage
 4 Medium Green Peppers
 1 Medium Tart Apple, Peeled and Diced
 ¼ Cup Fine Dry Bread Crumbs
 1 Egg
 1 – 8 Ounce Can of Tomato Sauce with Mushrooms

In a large skillet, sauté sausage in pan, stirring frequently until nearly cooked and appears crumbled. Drain sausage juices and set aside.

Cut off tops of peppers and remove seeds and membranes; place peppers into boiling salted water until peppers are nearly tender. Drain and place in 1 ½ quart casserole dish. Set aside.

In a medium mixing bowl combine apples, bread crumbs, egg and sausage.

Fill peppers with mixture; top with tomato sauce and cover.

Bake at 350°F for approximately 30 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 160°F.
